Privacy Policy
Noorjoo respects your privacy. This page explains, in plain language, what information is collected, why, and how you can control it.
What information we collect
When you create an account, we only store your email, your password (encrypted, never plain text), and the display name you choose. If you sign in with Google, we only get your name and profile photo from Google -- no separate password needed.
Your progress (which characters and layers you've seen, quiz answers, and the hadiths/verses you save to your treasury, along with any personal notes you write for them) is stored on our own server.
If you're a teacher or create a class, you see the names of students who join with your class code and their progress -- total points, level, light badges they've created, how many hadiths they've saved to their treasury (never the text of their personal notes, which always stays theirs alone), and the last time they were active. If you turn on family space, group members see this same level of progress about each other too.
How we use it
This information is used only to run the platform itself -- keeping you signed in, showing your progress, generating class certificates, and running the family system. Noorjoo never sells this information, never uses it for advertising, and never shares it with third parties for marketing.
Cookies and local storage
A cookie keeps you signed in (if you have an account) and remembers your light/dark theme choice in your browser. If you save progress without an account (as a guest), it only stays in that browser (localStorage), not on our server -- until you sign up and transfer it.
Third-party services
The third-party services you might interact with are Google Sign-In (optional, never required) and Google Analytics (GA4) -- both governed by Google's own privacy policy. Google Analytics is used only to count visits and see which pages are read (disabled for logged-in accounts, guest visitors only); this data is never used for advertising or sold to anyone. Noorjoo has no advertising trackers of any kind.
Private messages ("Beam")
If you share a class or family with someone, you can message them from "My Beams." These messages are completely private -- not the teacher, not whoever created the family space, no one else can read the text of your messages, even within their own class or family.
Because no human sees these messages ahead of time, the only safety layer is an automatic filter that blocks sending a phone number, email, or link, plus a "Report" button and a "Close this conversation" button that are always available. Messages -- even after "closing" a conversation -- aren't deleted; they're only manually reviewed if someone files a report.
Children and teenagers
Part of Noorjoo's audience is school students who discover the platform through their teachers. If the user is below the legal age, we recommend account creation happen under a parent's or teacher's supervision.
Controlling your data
You can request deletion of your account and all your data at any time -- just contact us.
